This top-of-the-line Lello 4080 Musso Lussino 1.5 quart ice cream maker is designed to make gourmet taste-and-texture ice cream, sorbets, gelato, sherbets, frozen drinks and frozen yogurt. The 100-watt ice cream maker is more of a solid kitchen fixture than a store-away-until-you-want-it appliance, weighing as much as a four-year-old, a hefty 40 pounds. The cumbersome move-ability of the ice cream maker is offset by the machine’s aesthetic Euro appeal as a permanent kitchen fixture. Boasting a self-contained freezing unit, the Lello 4080 Musso Lussino features a stainless steel 1 1/2 quart, non-removable bowl with matching blade that need no freezing prior to use.
The housing of the Lello ice cream maker is decor-neutral stainless steel. The simple two-button churn and chill operation features a timer with an automatic shutoff switch, should the processing dessert ingredients become too hard. Ingredients, recommended to be chilled ahead of time, are directly added into the bowl without the need for extra rock salt, ice or liquids. A single batch of ice cream takes approximately 30 minutes to make, although the manufacturer claims it is possible to freeze three quarts of sorbet or ice cream in a single hour.
Love of sweet, frozen homemade desserts and ingredient control spur buyers to the Lello 4080 Musso Lussino 1.5 quart ice cream maker. Consumers justify the high price by pointing to the product’s quality, ease of use and outstanding results. For the ice cream maker to be worth its weight and space, continual use is the key.

Connoisseurs of homemade ice cream and fruity sorbet will appreciate the Cuisinart ICE 50BC Supreme ice cream maker. The commercial quality machine can turn out frozen deserts and ice cold drinks in 60 minutes or less. Most of the people who would consider adding this appliance to their kitchen counter top have owned an ice cream maker of some sort before deciding to upgrade to the Cuisinart ICE 50BC.
The days of having to add rock salt and ice and then physically turn a crank to churn the ingredients to produce a small bowl of homemade ice cream are over. While you can still get such ice cream makers, getting a commercial quality machine with a compressor will make it a whole lot easier to turn out delicious tasting ice cream, frozen yogurt and sorbet. You’ll be able to turn out batch after batch of the sweet dessert without having to do much more than pour in the ingredients and flip a switch.
The stainless steel unit comes with an automatic 60 minute timer, which will turn the machine off when the ice cream is done. The compressor makes it unnecessary to pre-freeze the bowl as it will chill the ingredients to the proper temperature. With a 1.5 quart capacity, you’ll be able to produce plenty of ice cream to satisfy the entire family in the Cuisinart ICE 50BC Supreme ice cream maker.
Product Features and Specifications:
This 1.5 quart unit is a fully automatic machine capable of making frozen yogurt, sorbet and ice cream. |
The unit’s housing is brushed stainless steel. |
Pre-freezing is not required with this machine, because it has a commercial-style compressor freezer to do the job. |
The machine does precise temperature control. It mixes efficiently and has a fully automatic 60 minute timer. Frozen desserts or drinks take about 35-60 minutes, soft ice cream takes 35-45 minutes, while hard ice cream takes about 45-60 minutes. To allow for a firmer ice cream you will need to transfer the completed ice cream to a airtight container and place it in the freezer for an additional 2 or more hours. |
The machine has a transparent lid that allows you to watch while the desired frozen treat is being made. The lid also has an opening to allow you to add extra ingredients while the machine is in operation. |
The unit comes with an instruction book with recipes. |
The unit has handy carrying handles on the sides. |
Cleaning is made easy by allowing the removal of ingredient spout, lid, paddle and bowl. |
The product dimensions are 13.5 by 17 by 13.6 inches. |
This machine has a 3-year limited warranty. |

With spring just around the corner, thoughts turn to sherbet rather than snow. The Cuisinart ICE 45 Mix It In soft serve ice cream maker offers an easy and fun way to make cooling treats. The unit is unique in that it has the capability to dispense toppings like confetti sprinkles and larger condiments while simultaneously dispensing soft-serve ice cream into cones or bowls.
The Cuisinart ICE 45 eliminates the need for ice or salt with the 1-½-quart freezer bowl. Most of the recipes in the manual require the use of a blender to mix the ingredients and the freezer bowl needs space in the freezer. The unit does require a bit of space; however, at 17.2 inches tall, it will fit in most spaces between the counter top and the upper wall cabinet.
Reading the user’s manual presents quite a few rules for using the Cuisinart Mix It In soft serve ice cream maker, but all of them are easy to follow. One rather odd suggestion states that the freezer bowl should be wrapped in a plastic bag to prevent freezer burn while storing.
Product Features and Specifications:
The lid of the ice cream maker can be removed. The lid is designed to lock easily. The lid has a window to allow the user to watch the freezing process. |
The machine’s heavy-duty motor has enough power to produce and dispense the ice cream. The machine’s mixing arm mixes and aerates the ingredients to produce smooth ice cream in the freezer bowl. |
The Cuisinart ICE 45 dispenses ice cream when the user pulls down on the handle of the dispensing bracket. Nonslip rubber feet hold the unit in place while it is being used. |
The 1.5-quart freezer bowl has a double-insulated wall that contains cooling liquid. The freezer bowl has to be frozen prior to using it in the machine. |
The machine has 3 containers to store mix-in condiments that are dispensed from a chute into your ice cream cone or bowl while you dispense the ice cream from the unit. One condiment container is for small items like sprinkles while the other two is for larger condiments. The machine comes with a gauge in the form of a plastic cone to test whether the condiments you would like to use is the correct size to be compatible with the machine. If they do not fit through the gauge then they will clog the ice cream maker. Condiments in each compartment have a separate lever to dispense each of their contents. |
The unit has a on/off dial and a handy cone holder. |
The unit has a drip tray under the dispenser to catch any spills or drips and it is removable for easy cleaning. The drip tray also has a dot to indicate to the user where the cone or bowl should be held while dispensing ice cream. |
The product dimensions are 9.9 by 7.8 by 17.2 inches. |
The item weight is 13.8 pounds. |
